Who is this God of ours?

Who is this God of ours that makes people either turn to Him, or turn away from Him? Why is it, that some people can believe and others not? Some people believe that those of us that believe in the God of the heavens are weak minded and such. Nevertheless, throughout human history various minds have given great insight into God’s word. Others have provided reasoning for its absurdity and created alternate ideas for how this world and man came to be. More still, have distorted God’s truth to create their own religious dogma. Alternate minds have created various platforms for “spiritual consciousness” whereby individuals can get in touch, in line, or in tune, with their inner man, their soul, their spirit man. We see these influences all around us. All of us believe in one or the other, or a mixture of two or more. And while these notions belong to the deep philosophical, theological minds, and think tanks of our world, God in His infinite wisdom …“chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong (1 Corinthians 1:27).” And said, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent (1 Corinthians 1).”

One thing I have learned in my walk with the Lord, is that if we seek God, He will show us many things, if we ask.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth, who have set Your glory above the heavens!

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen—even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8

I wondered why Jesus upon sending out his disciples tell them to be wise as serpents?

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness;

Proverbs 2:6-13

Who is this God of ours?

Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses,

“I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

Exodus 3:15

Why is God, so mindful of man? Maybe, because we are made in His image.

Who is like our Lord? No one that I know of, that’s for sure. Hannah thought as much.

“My heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation.

“No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

“Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the Lord is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed. “The bows of the mighty men are broken, And those who stumbled are girded with strength.

Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread, and the hungry have ceased to hunger. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children has become feeble.

“The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and lifts up. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory.

“For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness. “For by strength no man shall prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; From heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to His king, and exalt the horn of His anointed.”

2 Samuel 2:1-10

The last few years, I have learned a lot about my God. I have become fully convinced that God is who He says He is, the King of kings, Lord of lords, the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega. He has a few other names too and I am also fully convinced that from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. When God said “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” He was saying to me that He knew what He was going to do in my life, what He had to do, and how He was going to accomplish His will in my life, all to His glory. And in 2017, He began to accomplish His work. He did a work in my life that blew me right out of the water. I can’t say, I wish it hadn’t taken so long, because God had to do a mighty work in my life to accept all He had for me. My heart needed healing, my mind needed transformation. Both were required to accept God’s will and God’s blessings.
